Supporting change, growth, and a fresh start

Supporting people to create meaningful change in a compassionate, practical, and non-judgemental space.

Yvette Ollerenshaw

A warm, supportive approach

My approach is collaborative, practical, and empowering. I aim to offer an āhurutanga (a safe and welcoming space) where people feel heard, supported, and able to speak openly without judgement.

Whether you are seeking professional supervision, wanting support around alcohol or other drug use, or supporting someone you care about, I work alongside people at their own pace to explore what is happening and what meaningful change could look like.

I believe good support happens in the context of a trusting relationship. My aim is for people to leave sessions feeling supported, more confident, and better equipped with practical tools and insight to move forward.

Seeking support can feel daunting, especially when life feels overwhelming or uncertain. You will find me warm, down-to-earth, genuinely interested, and committed to working collaboratively in a way that feels respectful and useful to you.

Professional Background

Qualifications & Experience

I am an experienced addiction and dual diagnosis clinician with over 14 years' experience working within mental health and addiction services across Aotearoa New Zealand.

For the past 9 years I have worked within the Dual Diagnosis Service, a specialist team within CADS (Community Alcohol and Drug Services), Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand. My role has involved supporting people experiencing co-existing substance use and mental health challenges, with a particular focus on individuals living with Axis I mental health diagnoses alongside alcohol and other drug use disorders.

My work includes community-based assessment and intervention, assertive outreach, harm reduction, relapse prevention, group facilitation, and supporting people to move towards meaningful and sustainable change.

Alongside my clinical work, I facilitate workforce development through the delivery of two-day training programmes in Motivational Interviewing and Co-existing Problems (CEP) for mental health teams, supporting clinicians to develop integrated and evidence-informed approaches to working with co-existing mental health and substance use challenges.
